Apologies for this post being in English: I can do most things in Dutch but this is something that I want to be quite precise about.
Generalising quite a bit, VA and I started credimus because we wanted a (Dutch-speaking) place online where we and "like mindeds" could come together to support each other in our lives as Catholics.
We're not aiming to copy or compete with any other Dutch-speaking Catholic fora out there: it's simply that we didn't feel at home in those places, so we decided to do something about it. We felt that something was missing, and being internetted people we went about this in a straightforward way (to us).
Of course, if we wanted to keep this strictly to ourselves we wouldn't have started anything new at all. But part of living life to the full is sharing it with others, and that's why we went in the direction of a website. Others are welcome here, you may be sure of that.
What is absolutely essential to us is that the sense of a community of Catholics bound together in their faith and love in Christ and His Church remains. It's important to us that we all have at least a vague idea of who everyone is, so that we can truly build each other up with our words and prayers.
With that in mind, we do not go around actively advertising credimus. We have indeed posted links in some places - on our personal blogs, for instance - but I would guess that most people here arrived because of an email, or a conversation, or something similar. The tshirt idea we're toying with at the moment is somewhat more light-hearted, and that's mainly why I'm all for it.
I hope that this clarifies some things from our point of view. We do not want to restrict the way credimus grows; however, in the absence of instructions from
God@heaven.va to the contrary, this is how we will aim to guide credimus for now.
