Gosh, you guys are all so friendly! Thanks for all the "welcome" messages!
And a special thanks to the person or persons with that tagline from Augustine to the effect that "If you think you understand it, it isn't God". I hadn't heard that quote before, but I managed to get hold of the text it came from (Serm. 117, on John 1:1-3) and am happily reading it now!

And you're reading it in Latin, right? I think that quote's from Marq's profile.

And you're reading it in Latin, right? Well, of course! I very much fear I'm developing a serious crush on Augustine. Leo the Great is going to be jealous. :S

(Actually I'd have claimed Benedict but then I know he'd go off and do something silly to himself once he heard I had a crush on him...and that's not smart)

They're more mature.

Yep, you'd probably have to go pray up a storm, or something, to get him to cease and desist! As for Gregory, I must admit I have Book II of his Dialogi lying around, but I sort of stalled out about 10% into it. Which is odd because it isn't that difficult a read. Must get back to it once I'm through with that sermon of Augustine's...

They speak Latin. What's not to love? I've got myself a project for the Summer. Apart from studying Gregorian chant in SOLESMES (did I mention I'm going to study Gregorian chant in SOLESMES? Really? SOLESMES?!?! ), I want to translate the blurb in Latin at the front of my Antiphonale. Just because PS did I mention the bit about SOLESMES? Hehehehehe

I would so love to do a course in chant, but I already have something lined up for the summer that's going to take up all my available vacation time! Maybe next year...

Welcome Raphaela ! Enjoy your stay. ff off topic: Who are you dark haired 'Pesach-girl' (PP) with German accent, dressed in a mantilla ? Did you enjoy my coffee ? Why did you already forgot my name ? I'm not curious ! (I'll just deny it)

But don't worry...usually if I'm wearing a mantilla I've got other clothes on too
